OUR MISSION

The Magnetic Theatre nurtures and produces new work, focusing on local and emerging playwrights. We develop artists through our New Play Development Program and our Magnetic U class series. Through work created by and for this community, we’re bringing art back to the heart of Asheville.

OUR VALUES

Original Work - We collaborate to create uncommon and refreshing theatrical experiences that reflect our commitment to producing truly original work in Western North Carolina. We cultivate an audience that expects to be challenged, and a community of artists that delights in risk and experimentation.

Community - The Magnetic Theatre is vital to the community because we provide a consistent outlet for local writers, particularly through our new play development program. We provide resources and host performances for many local organizations such as the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival and Asheville Creative Arts. Additionally, we partner with local nonprofits, such as Arms Around ASD, to provide arts access to under-resourced populations.

Inspiration - We seek to create an environment of generosity, which inspires artists to take creative risks, in order to develop innovative, high-quality performances for our dedicated audiences. In addition to our Mainstage Season, we also host artist workshops, classes, and staged readings to contribute to our culture of constant growth and learning.
